Yesterday, we had a company outing/activity at Ipo Dam, Norzagaray, Bulacan. I almost missed the second bus because I forgot to set my alarm by 4am. Thank God I was able to wake up by 5:15am and hurried my way to the office. Our call time is 6am and lucky I am, I made it!YEAH!!!

We arrived at the place at around pass 8am. We settled ourselves with our groups and headed up to the place where we going to have the tree planting. My team is Acacia and we were the first group to climed. This is my first time to experience hiking and that is the one reason why I am so excited and happy for this activity. I am only wearing a sneakers but it was just fine because the soil was not that slippery. Going up on the mountain was really a great experience for me. I would definitely do it again and again and again...We climbed 500 meters (was that high enough for a first timer?) and when my team reached the point where we going to plant our trees, we are all exhausted and tired...but happy that we managed to go up safe and sound.

I didn't waste much time to take a rest so I went on planting my trees. The soil is already dug before so we will just put the plant on it and cover it with soil. It was a sunny day so I really sweat a lot. My Gatorade bottle is already empty but I'm still thirsty. My team help each other to plant the trees so we finished early over the time expected. I made to plant 6 or 7 crops.

It was already 10am and the sun is really hurting us so I looked for a place to take a rest somewhere that has shade. Finally, we were invited to the Baraks, a nipa hut on top of the mountain and there we wait for the other groups and rested.

After few minutes, we are now ready to go down the mountain by taking the other way. I guess my feet were really tired that's why I find it harder to go down rather than going up. This time I am very careful because the way is a little bit slippery and stiff plus my sneakers was not really helping at all...huh!

When we reached the ground we took pictures and wait for the signal of our team leader that we can now go back to bus and be ready for lunch & swimming in Grotto Vista Resort in Bulacan.

An Inconvinient Truth

I just watched the documentary film of Mr. Al Gore the "An Inconvinient Truth". I had a chance to see this very meaningful film because of my very environmental concerned boss Mr. Emiliano Zulberti. He want us to be as opened as he is regarding global warming crisis that we are all experiencing. The movie will serve as the start how we can help our earth survive all its crisis now. This is also a preparation for our tomorrows company outing/activity the "Tree Planting" in Ipo Dam, Norzagaray, Bulacan.

Honestly, before I see the movie it seems to me that this will be just an ordinary film. But when I watched and learned all the facts and possibilities, I am so scared and felt it is really coming near us. I was really stroked by the movie and made me really eager to plant many trees as I can tomorrow. If only my son could understand this movie (but he is just only 3), I would be glad to let him watch this. I am highly recommending this documentary film to be watch by everybody from all ages. We can make a difference...And that difference big or small will matter a lot someday...

Dwyane at his Preschool

My son is undergoing the 1 month summer class for preparation for preschoolers. I thought this is the best way for us to determine if he is already ready and capable in going to school or not. Dwyane is 3 years old right now and just right for the age of nursery. As his mother, I already made myself ready of any tantrums he may throw and the unwillingness to go to school. As usual, on his first day of summer class he cried out loud. He doesn't want to enter the classroom even though I will be there too. His teachers were Montessori experienced teachers and also psychologists. They told me that this is a normal situation during first day or even first month of the school year. They will not force my son if he doesn't want to but they will motivate him until they get his trust. I saw how the teachers motivated Dwyane during his first week on the class. And I'm happy to say that somehow they got response from him. They told me that it is a good sign when you hear kids responded on you when you're talking with them. It's a sign that they were listening to what you are saying.

Toddlers entering preschools had difficult in separation anxiety from parents especially with their mothers explained to me by the teachers. It's really hard for their part to get the trust of these young kids but when they did it is very fulfilling experience. Now, I feel somehow fulfilled to see my son is enjoying already his summer class. I can see that when the summer class id done he is already adjusted to his classroom environment.

Yes, my son summer class will have a 1 week vacation, because her teacher's father passed away. Well, this kind of circumstances cannot be avoided and as a parent and also a friend I understand and sympathizes.

So, Dwyane is really happy. He is not yet adjusted with the classroom environment. He still wants me to be with him inside the classroom. He is lucky because his teachers allows me to go inside until they win his trust and be adjusted to the other kids.

Preschools subscribe to many different theories and philosophies of education. You may hear some of the following terms used to describe schools you're considering. Familiarize yourself with the various styles to help determine which one is the best fit for your child. Each school may interpret the philosophy a little differently; what's most important is finding one that's a good match with your child - one that will make his first school experience a positive one that inspires a lifelong love of learning.

Montessori

Montessori is centered on establishing independence, self-esteem, and confidence while fostering learning at a child's own pace.

This self-paced education is accomplished by changing the role of adults in the classroom from teachers of a whole class into that of "guides," as they are often called, for the students as individuals. According to the American Montessori Society, guides have four principle goals, which encompass what the Montessori method hopes to achieve. The guide strives to:

awaken your child's spirit and imagination
to encourage his normal desire for independence and high sense of self-esteem
help him develop the kindness, courtesy, and self-discipline that will allow him to become a full member of society
help him learn how to observe, question, and explore ideas independently

The guide may introduce a lesson to the class as a whole, but will then focus on working with students in small groups as they investigate topics on their own in a carefully prepared classroom environment. This individualized attention means children with special needs - whether they are gifted or delayed - often do well in a Montessori environment.

This environment is another trademark of a Montessori program. With so much emphasis on individual and small-group exploration, the room itself is kept bright, warm, and inviting. It will often contain many learning centers that allow a child to focus on what they are most interested in, while being shown through gentle encouragement that they should not be afraid of trying new things either. These centers are filled with objects that cater to what preschoolers are most responsive to - highly tactile, very hands-on learning materials that teach through manipulation.

The sense that they are in charge of this environment also fosters feelings of responsibility and accountability in the children, another focus of the Montessori approach. Studies have shown that a feeling of ownership contributes to better care of belongings. Visitors to Montessori classrooms are often amazed to see children working together to clean up centers after they are done experimenting and learning in them, feeding the animals they are helping raise, even watering plants and tending to small gardens in some instances.

This in turn helps create a mentality of cooperation, instead of competition, among the children. To further this cooperative spirit, Montessori classrooms are divided into three-year sections, which allow children to get to know their teachers and one another better. Older children are encouraged to help the younger children in their explorations, teaching compassion and instilling the lesson that there is no shame in needing help in life all at once.

Waldorf
Waldorf programs strive to stimulate kids' bodies, spirits, and souls with a nurturing, homelike environment that engages all five senses. Rudolf Steiner, who founded the first Waldorf school in Germany in 1919, believed that small children learn best by imitation and their physical surroundings. Creative play is the most important means of learning in a Waldorf classroom, with a heavy dose of teamwork and togetherness. If your child attends a Waldorf school for many years, he will remain with the same teacher from preschool through eighth grade! The result is a deep, close relationship, one in which your child's needs are better understood from year to year.

In preschool, children learn concentration, interest, and a love of learning through cooking, dress-up, singing, art projects, storytime, and other activities. Waldorf classrooms are all natural: no televisions, computers, or even plastic toys. The philosophy teaches that children benefit from the feel, sight, and smell of natural materials.

Waldorf programs are more group-oriented and have a stronger sense of rhythm and routine than Montessori programs. Children with special needs are welcome, although those with severe delays will do better in a program designed especially with their needs in mind.

Multiple Intelligence Theory of Howard Gardner (MI)

MI is based on the research of Harvard-based neuropsychologist, Howard Gardner. It was his belief that intelligence is not only an IQ score, but a compilation of multiple gifts or strengths. In Gardner 's mind, there are ten intelligences that should be developed or concentrated on:

Verbal/Linguistic or Word Smart
Logical/Mathematical or Number Smart
Visual/Spatial or Picture Smart
Bodily/Kinesthetic or Body Smart
Musical or Music Smart
Interpersonal or People Smart
Intrapersonal or Self Smart
Natural or Nature Smart
Existential or Spirit Smart
Moral or wise smart
physical, emotional, cognitive, and social growth.

Community/Religious

Many child care centers, community centers, and religious organizations offer preschool programs. These typically feature the classic preschool experience you might remember from your own childhood, with an emphasis on both socialization and pre-academic skills. If age-appropriate religious instruction is important to you, you'll want to consider one of these programs seriously.

These programs vary greatly depending on the philosophy of the director and teachers. They may include elements from several styles of programs (such as Montessori or Projects ). To varying degrees, children will learn by playing and experimenting with language, toys, and art materials. Some schools may have a stronger emphasis on pre-academic skills and direct instruction, while others will offer a more hands-on curriculum. Talk to the director to find out what her approach is and whether it fits well with your child's temperament and your goals for her preschool education.

Cooperative

If you can't afford a traditional preschool, or can't find one with a philosophy that meshes with your own, consider looking for or even founding a cooperative school. These parent-run programs are usually less expensive than other schools (because of the sweat equity that parents contribute) and allow participating families to help decide what kids will learn and how.

In a cooperative preschool, parents take turns doing everything from managing the finances to washing the windows to assisting in the classroom. Usually, a professional teacher oversees the classroom, but parent volunteers recruit and hire her, serve as her aides, and help develop the curriculum.

Of course, this takes a good deal of time and energy. It's not a commitment to be entered into lightly. But many families believe it's worth it. Aside from the financial benefit and the direct influence over your child's education, you get the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded parents, to observe your child and his peers as they learn and socialize, and even to learn skills that could be valuable in your current or future career.

Reggio Emilia

Many experts have hailed the Reggio Emilia approach as an exemplary system for helping children develop strong thinking skills. The primary goal of this method is to create learning conditions that help children develop these abilities through exposure to all matter of expressive, communicative, and cognitive experiences. Four guiding principles work together to meet this objective:

Emergent curriculum: Topics for study are built on the interests of the children, determined by discussions with the class and their families, and by areas that fascinate many children, such as puddles and dinosaurs. Teachers use these observations to decide what projects are best suited to the interests of the class, what materials will be needed, and how they can get parents, or possibly even the community, involved.

Projects: Children participate in in-depth studies of concepts, ideas, and interests. Such projects are often explained to the children as adventures, and can vary in duration from a week or two to the entire school year. Teachers stand by as advisors to the group, helping them decide what directions they should take their research in, how they should represent what they learn, and what materials would be best suited for this representation.

Representational development: Teachers present new ideas and concepts in multiple forms, such as print, art, drama, music, puppetry, etc. This variation is considered essential in making sure that all children (who have many different styles of learning) have the chance to understand what is being taught to them.

Collaboration: Groups both large and small are encouraged to work together to solve problems using dialogue, comparisons, negotiations, and other important interpersonal skills. Each child's voice should be heard within the group to promote the balance between a sense of belonging and a sense of self.

Teachers play a dual role as researchers in a Reggio Emilia classroom. Their primary purpose is to learn alongside the children, being involved in their group learning experiences as a guide and resource. A Reggio Emilia teacher must always carefully observe and track the growth of the children and the community within the classroom, and also spend time reflecting on what they have learned about themselves and their teachings as well.

The documentation of these observations on the growth of both teacher and children is another facet of the Reggio Emilia approach. Pictures of the children at work and play, dictations of their words, and their interpretations of their experiences help both teacher and parent learn more about what does and does not work for their young ones. This allows for the dynamic of the classroom to be adjusted in whatever way best helps the learning process.

Banish first-day jitters for your child and for yourself!

Starting school can be a difficult time for children. Every child is hesitant to go somewhere new and see people she's never met before. Here are some helpful ways to prepare your child for her first day of school:

1. Let your child know what his schedule will be like. Tell him what time school begins and ends each day.

2. Ask your child about her feelings -- both the excitement and the concerns -- about starting school.

3. Visit the school with your child to see his new classroom and meet his new teacher before school officially starts.

4. Point out the positive aspects of starting school. It will be fun and she can make new friends.

5. Let your child know that all kids are nervous about the first day of school .

6. Leave a note in your child's lunchbox that will remind him you're thinking of him while he's at school.

7 . Reassure your child that if any problems arise at school, you will be there to help resolve them.

8. Try to have your child meet a classmate before the first day of school so she will already have a friend when school starts.

9. Arrange for your child to walk to school or ride together on the bus with another kid in the neighborhood.

10. Find out about after-school activities that your child can join. Will there be a back-to-school party? Can she join a sports team?

Pre-School Summer Class

Even before I was already planning to enroll Dwyane to a summer class for the preparation for his preschool. I wanted him to first experience the summer preschool class before entering the real one. As a parent, of course I have this kind of hesitations whether he will be interested enough to go to school or he might just withdraw in the middle of the school year. I have to see ahead this kind of situations.

Two weeks ago I already look for preschool that offers a summer class. St. Vince Wizard Learning School offer a 1 month of summer class on nursery to preparatory. It only cost P2,200($50) for one month. The class will start on April 14, Monday. His schedule is 10am-12nn.

I know this will help Dwyane to be more familiar what will be it looks like if he will start schooling. This summer class can also determine if he is ready to go to school.

Looking for the Right Preschool

This coming school year (June 2008), Dwight & I planned to enroll our son Dwyane to a preschool. He is turning 3 this April and by June I think he at his age he is enough for a nursery. The standard age bracket of preschoolers today are 2 1/2-3 for nursery, 4-5 for kinder and 5-6 for preparatory. I already look for learning schools near our place and I found 4 but only two of them appeal to me. I was torn between 2 good schools. I really need to think and evaluate each of them. The first school is the Regina Carmeli School affiliated by De La Salle University, it was practicing for 11 years and the teacher there was the teacher before of my cousin in 1996. The other is St. Vince Wizard Learning School, it only started last year, so this only their second year, but I was able to talk with the teachers and found that they practice Montessori standard of teaching. Well, I still have enough time to think about it but since St. Vince Wizard offers summer classes, I thought that this would be a great time to see how will Dwyane react on his school environment plus how well the teaching will be.

It's still Holy Week here, but mourning has just finished because Jesus Christ has ascended into heaven. From the 2 days of no working day throughout the nation except for international companies the normal business resumed like shopping malls. That's why we headed to Mall of Asia for some glorious bonding moment.

During Holy Week Season here in Philippines, Catholics used to go to different churches that symbolizes the 14 station of the Cross of Jesus Christ, we called it "Bisita de Iglesia". Since then and until right now I haven't gone to 14 churches during Bisita Iglesia. Usually, I only got 4-7 churches in our place. Sad! But though I haven't gone into 14, I usually do penance and ask forgiveness, and I think that was the most important of the Holy Week season.

Yes, it was always anticipated to have along weekend holiday vacation during Holy Week season. Usually it starts on Holy Wednesday, to give chance to people who will leave for their province and spend their Holy Week with their beloved family and relatives. this is also one of the most busiest days in any beach resort all over the country. Some Filipinos spend their Holy Week to the beautiful beaches that surrounds us but for me and my family we traditionally spend our time together just at home; reflecting on what we've done and do penance.

This morning my mom flew back to Saudi Arabia. She is here for only 2 weeks of vacation. Anyway, though its just 2 weeks, we really happy to see her again. I Found Thomas!!!

While waiting for the movie, we just hang around in the department store - children section. Just looking what I can buy for my son, Dwyane. Then Dwight showed me something...it was Thomas-the Tank Engine which my son is so crazy about. I was so shocked to see the dinnerware set I've been looking for long time to buy him and also the wrist watch I saw in the internet, rubber shoes(so cuuuute) and bath towel. I texted right away my mom, because she promise me that she will buy Dwyane Thomas & Friends toys and stuffs.

So tomorrow will be the shopping day for Thomas & Friends!!!

Movie: The Mist

So, we had a post-Valentines celebration at Robinsons Ermita. We just plan to watch a movie and eat dinner. We don't go to fancy restaurant but instead we ate at Kamay-Kainan in the food court. We really had a great choice of food like sinigang na baboy, pinapaitan & binagoongan. The pinapaitan is so SARAP!!! I've never taste a great pinapaitan since...don't know. My lola used to cooked that every new year but not now.

Then we proceed to the movie house. At first we're confuse what movie to watch. We are choosing between the two: Jumper or The Mist. We decided to watch The Mist, it's almost 7:30 and the movie already started so we decided to have the last full show which will start by 9:50.

Movie Review: I did see the trailer before and it was just fine. I said maybe it is just like other horror-alien invaded movie that I've seen before. But it is really different and the situation is so complicated. It is a matter of life & death, faith & patience. While watching, I am imagining If I am in that situation, will I be one of the rest who took a chance to go out and ask for help or will I just stay and wait till the rescue comes. I really want to tell you the whole story but it is better for you to watch. See if who you are in the movie. You will learn lots of lessons in life. And by the time you finished watching you will have one word to say: Lord, please don't let this happen to us!This movie by Stephen Kings was just a fiction but it might come in reality. So scared!

How did I celebrate the Hearts Day?

We had a dinner celebration at Seaside in Mall of Asia. We choose this place for a change. Because we always eat at Max's Restaurant whatever is the occasion. Though my mom can't eat seafoods because of her cholesterol still she eat a bit just to sour her taste buds. This is also my first time to eat fresh oyster. I am not picky on seafoods but I'm just afraid to eat fresh oyster. In fairness, it's delicious but I only eat one. That's enough.

Can Pregnant Women Drink?

During pregnancy, food and drink consumed by the expectant mother is passed on to the developing baby through the placenta. Consuming alcohol during pregnancy has been shown to have an adverse affect on the developing baby.

Heavy drinking throughout pregnancy has been known to cause alcohol dependency in new-born infants and abnormalities affecting growth, mental retardation and low intelligence, and facial and other physical defects, and organ damage.

This is known as fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS). The physical, mental, and emotional effects caused by FAS are tragically irreversible. Even moderate amounts of alcohol are thought to have a detrimental impact on the well-being of expectant mothers and the unborn child.

For years doctors have suggested that pregnant women should have no more than four units of alcohol a week and no more than a single unit in 24 hours. The truth is, it is not fully known what the impact of even such moderate amounts may have on a developing fetus. There is no recommended safe level of alcohol for pregnant women.

New advice from the Department of Health recommends that women should abstain from alcohol during pregnancy.

My Precious Gift for My Mother

Weeks before I've been thinking what is the best gift I can give her. Since the time I worked I haven't give her anything...so ashame. But I'd rather give her something that will really touch her heart and soul.

While strolling at the mall one time I saw this book with the title "Mother"--it is a inspirational book composes of writings like poems and letters giving thanks to a mother. I know this is the best gift I could give her, not bags nor jewelries because she has too many of these.

We're not that open like other mother-daughter because I was not with her. But I know somehow we're bridging that gap and making the most special moments together when time allows.

Today is the arrival of my step-pop and mom from Saudi. They will have a 3-weeks vacation here in Pinas. But they will be arriving not with the same plane. My mom will be arriving with PAL from Dammam while my step-pop will be arriving by Saudia Airlines from Riyadh. They will just wait each other in the airport.

My mom is very excited for this is her first time to come home this time of the year. This is also her first time since she went to Saudi to work to celebrate her birthday with us. Her birthday is on Feb.6. I don't know what is her plan but definitely we will celebrate it by having dinner altogether.

My sister-in-law, Dayle send me a message thru Friendster that she had ultrasound for the sex of the baby. She was expecting it will be a baby boy because of some indications that it is a boy. But luckily when the result of the ultrasound held to her, she was so surprise to know that "it's a baby girl". I'm so happy for her and also excited for the baby to come.

I know how exciting it was to be first time mom. I read all pregnancy books that will help to understand what I've been experiencing and will experience in the few months. Thank God I didn't have much pregnancy infancipation. I didn't experience vomiting, severe headaches and worst loss of consciousness. But what I've most wanted during my pregnancy period was "shopping" maternity dresses and baby clothes of course. As a first time mom I want to pick the best for me and my baby. Actually there are a lots of beautiful maternity and baby clothes in the mall, sometimes don't know how will I choose from them. I want to buy all of them. I was inspired to look again on maternity dresses because my officemate and friend is on their way to be a mom soon. This is what my 2 1/2 year old son wants for Christmas. This is the "apple of his eyes" today. We are having a hard time looking for this character because this is not as usual as other characters like Barney or Sesame Streets (his favorites before). Even at shopping malls they have only limited stuffs for this character and they are pretty expensive. I've found lots of Thomas & Friends in the internet, even though how much I want them to buy I know it is not practical because I'll be paying in dollars plus the shipment. I've emailed my Mama in Saudi to ask her to look for this toy but I haven't received any feedback yet.

Last Saturday when we went to 168 Mall, we've found some stuff like soft ball, clothes and baby briefs so we bought it. We're still not done yet on our mission to look more for Thomas & Friends...We've only just began...

Divisoria...Here We Come!

It's Saturday and my husband and I planned to go to Divisoria to buy gifts for Christmas. Here in the Philippines especially in Manila, Divisoria is known to be the place where you can buy things same with the malls but in a very low price. We decided to leave around 10am. We already anticipated that there will be lots of shoppers and of course the traffic. We first went to 168 Mall. Upon entering the entrance, people were everywhere. So I said this is it...

The alley between stores in 168 Mall is too narrow that shoppers were already bumping to each other. And you can't really move freely and shop easily because people are blocking you. You should be really tough to push(but not too hard) those who were in your way. The things were really pretty cheap and you can also get less if you buy it via wholesale price. It's almost 12nn and we feel our stomach is already complaining to we headed to the food court. Oh My Gosh! There is no vacant table...so we just buy shawarma and C2 Iced Tea just to pass up our hunger. Then we decided to transfer on the Cluster Building, the streets going there were too flooded by crowds but we made it.

We had a really great time buying this and buying that for our love ones, that we almost forgot to take our lunch. We ate our lunch at 4pm, imagine that...4pm Lunch!!! I felt floating in the air because of hunger and tiredness. Then after eating, I said to Dwight "maybe it's time to go home, if yo still have things to buy maybe some other time because I can't already moved my feet". We've been walking from 10am to 4pm...woooh!

3rd Year Anniversary

Yeah, it's our 3rd year wedding anniversary yesterday, Dec. 8. We choose that date simply because it's the feast of Immaculate Mother Mary and it's my lola's birthday too. Of course, I can't deny the fact that "8" also a good number according to Feng Sui.

We just plan a very simple for our anniversary. No lavish trips but just spending some quality time with our little boy. He is the most precious and important in our lives now. So everything is planned according to what we think he likes most and be happy with. We just thought of going to MOA (Mall of Asia) where he can roomed around and play. For us couple, we would just find some other day that we can spend on to ourselves. Anyway, we are expecting more occasions coming up for this month.

Though it's a little bit tiring day, but I know my son really enjoyed. Here are some pictures...

Everyday before I went home from my work I'm passing by the stores in EDSA which sells Christmas decors. It's one of the things that would remind me that Christmas is fast approaching and homes should be decorated with Christmas balls, trees, lights and gifts. Beautiful decorations are everywhere ranges from small to big to cheapest to expensive. There are lots of new decorations on the stores every year, and each year decorations are getting more beautiful and unique. I really want to but new stuffs but the problem is we still have decors at home that still look new and beautiful. Maybe I'll just buy some just to add to the old ones. If you have some tips on how to make the old decors new or any suggestions please feel free to comment. I'd be great to hear some mom tips from all of you...

Ghost Whisperer Fanatic

My husband borrowed Ghost Whisperer dvd from my in-laws last week. They said it was a good one. But I'm not familiar with it, so I'm not excited to watch it not until last Saturday night when my son slept early, so I had a lot of time doing what I want to do. At first, I'm kinda hesitant to watch it because I know it is a ghost stories and I'm not that too brave to watch ghost stories, but I said to myself I'll just try it.

I play the cd and watched. I thought it was a movie but it's not...it is a series...now I know...I remember seeing that on Studio 23 channel but I didn't know that it was a good one. I continue watching and I like every ghost story told.

Ghost Whisperer follows the life of Melinda Gordon, a newlywed who owns an antique shop. She also happens to have a very unique gift - she is able to see and speak to the dead. She helps earthbound spirits with any unfinished business they may have that is keeping them from crossing over into the light.

Melinda, got her "gift" from her grandmother who has also the ability to see and talk to ghosts. She helps every single soul as much as she could to see the "light" and "crossover". She sees ghost like a normal person, like walking, doing their everyday routine, sometimes she get confused if the person she was talking to was dead or not. She is very tough woman dealing with this kind of situations. She is a very lucky girl too for having Jim, his husband, who supports and understand her "gift" and love her trully.

One story there made me really cry...it is about a 6 years old boy who died in train accident. His soul is still hangs on the train rails waiting for his mom to come and take him home. The kid doesn't know that he is already dead. And he don't remember the accident. Melinda told the boy what had happened and the boy said he wants to see her mom. His parents can't take what had happened to him. They blamed themselves. Melinda help them talked to their son and realize that it's time to let go, for them to find the peace they wanted long ago. The boy already accepted the fact that he is already dead and he crossover.

That story really crashed me into pieces...

I'll post a story review on every episode that I watched...

Tatay Pedring's 78th birthday!

Yes, this is his birthday. We just celebrate it over dinner. My lola just bought Pancit Bihon and cake roll from Praline's Bakeshop. Then I bought ice cream Mango Sans Rival flavor from Magnolia as requested by my son. Even though he has still colds and cough I let him enjoy eating ice cream...sorry doctor, I can't resist on my son's happiness, anyway he is still taking medicine.

Moms and their Confessions

While surfing the net, I came across to one blog. One post there was about True Mom Confession. I follow the link and found out that this site let mommies write their own confessions about anything. It might be at work, in her family, friends, dreams and etc. Somewhat I can relate to some confessions. I realized then while reading their own confessions that my life is more easier than them, that my problem is simple compared to them and what I'm experiencing is normal.

This site is very helpful for us moms, who wants to talk about sufferings and sacrifices in life, finding someone who has also in the same kind of situation and realizing they are not alone in this world.

Star City Adventure

My in-laws already planned to go to Star City on Nov. 1, which they usually do. But since my family also had a planned for the same day which going to Tarlac, we just decided to follow after we arrived.

We arrived Manila by 5:30pm. I'm not that tired so it's okay for me to go to Star City, besides I know Dwyane will really enjoy a lot. Even though my husband has no sleep yet, he still woke up and joined us.

When we got to Star City, the first ride that we took was the Grand Carousel. Dwyane likes to ride on horses. He enjoyed a lot while me taking pictures.

These days his favorite toy character is Thomas the Train from Thomas & his Friends. So when he saw this train he thought it was Thomas. He doesn't want to leave anymore.

Visiting Tarlac...

I woke up around 4:30am to prepare coz we plan to leave by 6am. My son is still asleep so I do things as fast as I can. I already fixed my things last night so what I need to do is just a little more preparations. My lola cooked "binagoonggang baboy" for our pack lunch and hotdogs for breakfast. We have lots of "baon" as if we are heading for a picnic. Around 5:30am my Tita Ann arrived and my cousins too. We put all the things inside the MB100 van which we borrowed from a friend. Then woke up Dwyane to get dress and off we go.

We stopped at Dangwa (the flower market in Dapitan) to buy some fresh flowers. We got 2 flower basket for only P450 (cheap isn't?). We are expecting already a traffic but thank God there was not. We just experienced a little when we are already near the Eternal Gardens cemetery in Tarlac. There was not much people there not like before. The weather is fine when we got there. We set up for our early lunch and prayed the rosary.

As usual, my son just played around. My other relatives from my grandmother side also arrived there. They talked and talked... Then, we also took the chance to visit some more relatives and by late noon we decided to come back to Manila.

I know my lolo is very happy seeing us all together again. We miss him so much!!!

Trick or Treat at SM San Lazaro

The Trick or Treat on SM Malls fall on Oct. 31, too bad that I still have work for that day so I can't come to join my son for his trick or treat. Thank God my husband Dwight is off on that day so he and Dwyane will do the tricking stuff.

I didn't buy Dwyane a costume, because all costumes in the department stores are almost the same and for sure a lot of kids will have the same costume on that day. I want my son to unique a nd apart from the rest. So, what I did was, I made his costume. I searched the web for Halloween costumes, then from their I came up with the idea of the Jedi Knight.

Since we run a textile store in Central Market, the materials are not a problem. Then I just ask our neighbor Tita Mary, to sew the costume. I just made her copy the style of the bathrobe of Dwyane, and that's it. Prior to that I just bought him a Jedi Light Saber sword on the mall for only P129.00 to complete his costume. I will just wait 'til tomorrow to see the finish product.

Planning for November 1

December 1, 2001 my grandfather left us for good. Then after 2 year's his older sister followed. They both rest is our province in Tarlac. And this year we are planning to visit them. It's not every year that we are doing this because of conflict schedules left and right. But this year since GMA announced that Nov. 1 & 2 will be holiday followed by Saturday & Sunday weekend, we think it's a great time for us to come and visit our love ones.

I forgot my Tita Ann's birthday...OMG!

I received a call yesterday afternoon from my Tita Ann, asking if my son, Dwyane can come to their place. Then, I ask why...what's the occasion? I really had no idea what is the occasion, then she said it was her birthday. I can feel my face turn into red as I was talking to her over the phone, so ashamed that I didn't remember her birthday. I just pretend I intentionally forgot it.

Well, it happens sometimes, especially when your mind is preoccupied with so many things. I phoned at home telling my yaya to prepare Dwyane, because any minute they will going to fetch by my Tito Eric. Since I'm still in the office and my work will be done by 6pm I'll just go straight to their place in Sampaloc.

When I arrived there around 7:30 pm they almost done eating and my Tito Rodel from Canada is in the web cam talking to my lola. I just sat and eat "inihaw na liempo"...it's so delicious. After, I take an ice cream desert then followed by chocolate moose...so terrific.

My favorite thing to do when I am in my Tita's house is singing in the "videoke". They have a lot of songs to choose from and it is updated. So I start singing while my son is happily roaming around the house. Time flies so fast and I didn't realize that it is almost 9:30. My throat is already aching because of singing endlessly.

We just bid goodbye and go home happy and tired...

As I watched this video, I was thinking how fortunate I am to have a complete body parts. But can't stop admiring this lady for her strong determination and very positive outlook in life. Though I know I'm much capable doing all those jobs than her still I envy her because she is doing it better than I could. The way she take care of her baby, changing diapers, feeding, doing households chores...WOW! She goes to the gym...me, I don't. She drives...me, I don't. She goes to grocery alone...me, I don't...I need my husband to help me carry bags of groceries.

This woman is really an inspirational person for those people who are still complaining of everything in spite of what they have. There are a lots of people that couldn't live without their cellphones, ipods, laptops and name all the worldly things around us. How about this person? Can you imagine having your cellphones, your ipods and laptops but losing one part of your body? Will you still say life is good if you loose one part of your body? Think of that!

Be thankful everyday of your life. Waking up everyday is one of the greatest things you should be thankful for. Eating 3x a day or more is one of the greatest things we should be thankful for. Live your life to the fullest and enrich your own gift to be worthy of. Life is simple don't make it complicated!

Mabuhay Ka, Manny!

Today is the most awaited day of all Filipinos, esp. those who love boxing and fans of our very own Manny Pacquiao. I really don't like this sports, for me it's kinda boring, but if Manny is in the ring, I love to watch it. I don't know if he has this sort of "anting-anting" - lucky charm, because he really fight so well. He is totally unbeatable.

His opponent Antonio Barrera is very eager to knockout Manny but sorry to say Mr. Barrera, Manny just came very prepared for this fight. I got already a feeling that Manny will won, why? I don't know but i think it's my instinct. As I watched the fight, I've been waiting for Barrera to fall, actually he did... almost, when Manny gave him a punch, he takes out of control and somewhat loose his conscious but he manage to stand still. He try to bit off Manny illegally and it was shown in television...bad cheetah! You can't fight fairly enough, that's why you loose.
